View Full Version : Palmair B737 Emergency @ Bournemouth 24/1/03
Any body know the exact cause of the Palmair 737 incident at Bournemouth on Friday? Landed very hard and fast (looked like flaps up) and then got stuck on the runway as the brakes jammed when they tried to taxi back to the terminal. pax were later taken off and bused from the runway to the term.

easy glider, Palmair are a small airline based @ b'mouth using 73's and according to a national survey are one of the best airlines around!!

Palmair are owned by bath travel. the flight deck are European Airlines crew, Cabin crew enployed seperately. And the aircraft are owned by EAL.

What time was this supposed to have happended?
I was at EGHH yesterday afternoon when one of Europeans 737 landed and it did not seem particularly unusual?
No sign of it stopping on the runway for a while - we took off a bit later without any problems?

The incident in question was European Aviation Air Charters G-CEAC. A B737-200 used by Palmair for a majority of its flying out of Bournemouth (BOH).
As already mentioned Palmair (part of 'Bath travel' family) is a very well regarded and professional outfit, utilising EAAC flight crew and aircraft, with Palmairs own cabin crew.
On its initial departure, passing approx 5000' it suffered engine trouble, the crew followed proceedure and decided to shut the engine down. Having completed checks and looking at all options it was decided to perform a single engine approach and landing back at BOH. As is proceedure on the B732 they carried out a flap 15 landing with no subsequent problems.
Passengers were then flown to their destination on another aircraft.
