The a/l management are meeting with BAA shortly, with the likely outcome being 2 a/c based in the near future.Looks like the clamour for GLA seats with Air Scotland has convinced them that there is a market after all!The a/l will also qualify for a chunk of the £6million set aside to boost new routes!

I can't see MyTravelLite risking financial disaster at GLA,
there is far too much competition from nearby airports and let's
face it Air Scotland might be basing 2 aircraft at GLA but are
only operating 3 destinations from there. The bulk of their flights
seem to be flying from EDI.

BillyG floated a rumour that US air were also doing wonderous
things at GLA - what happened to them.?

A chunk of the £6M development fund? That's £2M surely?
The remainder belongs to ABZ and EDI? Or do you condone
BAA allocating the lion's share to the usual 'Black Hole'.?

Your GLA nonsense might get pounced upon by local the 'rag' but I'm sure the professionals in this forum are not so easily
fooled.:o

They probably recall the Scotairways, Air France, Eastern Airlines,
Lufthansa, Scotjet/Gill, North West etc; withdrawals, than to be taken-in by fantasy.:p

Yes Joe, The MyTravel story is a rumour and I'm hoping that one of the professionals, that you often choose to ridicule, can throw some more light on it!You ,obviously, are no help and as usual you respond with your own, unmistakeable, brand of tripe !
Anyone out there know what's really happening? Your fantasy responses are not required Joe!

You posted this and then admit its a rumour! Oh dear..

Air Scotland has been overwhelmed by the demand for GLA
seats?

EDI isn't in the demand?

The last I heard was that the CAA are investigating Air Scotland's paperwork and that the demand was actually down to tour operators rather than Joe Public.

Tour operators who have programmes out of both airports and
not just GLA.

The same tour operators might just be considering pulling duplicate flights out of the GLA overcapicity.?

Get real Billy and stop posting rumours as if they were
factual.

A bit rich considering the rubbish you post on a regular basis:mad:

I seem to remeber you being very keen to talk up rumours of "scotjet" ops EDI to the USA recently - I don't see that they are or were any less of a rumour.

Give us all a break!

>>Get BHX right first? Start up routes pulled<<

BHX, like GLA has duplicate charter routes. ?

What's the point in providing what already exists.? Start-ups over identical routes are fraught. Diluting an obvious existing overcapacity is a recipe for disaster not success.

Give pax the chance to fly from airports that are charter-starved
and get the tills ringing. :D :D

Joe,

How can you call GLA the usual black hole?

According to BAA's last Annual Report GLA made a profit of £25M vs a rather poor £20M for EDI. (That's a fact, not a rumour)

If you can't do arithmetic that's 25% more profits at GLA.

If you are able to read a set of accounts you can see for yourself here www.baa.com

Download the AR and look at the segmental analysis, and weep :D .

Then please stop spouting rubbish, please.

Gusty

Its sad that GLA can only muster a mere £5M more in profit
from being BAA's chosen charter and sole long-haul gateway.

Think about all those extra facilities, franchises and airline bases
and ask yourself if GLA is actually value for BAA's money.?

Think also about the monopoly that dictates what category
of traffic leaves from where and when.?

Extra thought should also be given to the recent 19% discount that BAA made available exclusively to airlines at GLA, if the airport were that attractive and profitable why offer incentives that are not available elsewhere?

I see the situation as full price ABZ/EDI subsidising cut-price
GLA.

<<Think about all those extra facilities, franchises and airline bases and ask yourself if GLA is actually value for BAA's money.?>>

Perhaps you would like to look at the accounts again Joe, factor in the REQUIRED £10M Capex for the new tower at EDI, calculate the return on capital employed at each airport and then delete the above comments before you begin to sound REALLY silly.

:D ;) :D

The rest of your post does not merit a response.

>>The rest of your post does not merit a response. <<

How about the news that Glasgow's population is dropping
alarmingly? 578,000 at the 2001 census.... down from 1M
plus post war...Where are all these new airline starts going to get their pax from?

The master plan is to march them all from Edinburgh
via their nearest cash-line machines.?:(

Airlines need an affluent passenger base, the base that Scotairways found lacking when they pulled GLA-LCY.?

I'm not attempting ridicule here but there are facts that should be
told.:o
