AUSLIG make World Aeronatuical Charts for Airservices Australia (or the Civil Aviation Authority as one of my more yellowed maps told me today :eek: ).
As for calculating one's route LSALT, can one use non WAC charts (ie an Auslig published 1:250K map) to obtain a more accurate (and lower more importantly) LSALT?
Imagine the scenario, you have drawn the splays from your dept point, and added the 5nm buffer. A hypsometric tint just crosses over the line into your area. From a WAC, you have no idea the height of the bit of hypsometric tinting jutting into your area, so you must assume that it is the maximum height of the tint (or the same height as the highest surveyed point in that tint in that grid square if applicable).
Now, I have dumped the $99 2CD set of every Auslig published 1:250K map on my hard drive. Can I just pull it up, type in the lat and long of the bit of land I need to see, use that to add 1360 feet to and fly off happily into the merry white yonder?
If this is not possible, can someone please point out the reg?
