I just upgraded from win ME to XP.
A sound blaster live 5.1 card is installed.
Prior to upgrade installation ran the compatability check. As you can guess I was informed that 5.1 was not fully compatable.
Did the installation, downloaded the new driver package (25mb!) and ran the install program.
After reboot, no sound.
Re-installed from the initial disk and had sound but during shutdown told "DEVLDR not responding"
Went to microsoft help and told to uninstall the driver and then reinstall from the windows disk.
Did this and you guessed it - no sound!
Reinstalled from the original, got sound but also the message again.
I am going around in circles and getting more confused after each circuit.
I must be doing something wrong but this one has got me beat.
Anyone got any ideas?

Try this driver instead (http://www.hotwinfiles.com/software_details.asp?r=965)

ORAC thats the driver I refer to that gives me no sound.
Even tho the site you provided shows it as a 9.28mb file, when you follow the links it takes you to the creative labs site. That then leads to the 25mb file.
But thanks anyway.

You could try looking at http://www.driverguide.com/

An update for those interested and for those that may encounter this problem at a later date.
I found this (http://www.rdisruption.com/xp/xp00120.htm) web site and followed the instructions.
They did not work for me so then I downloaded the windows xp service pack. All the new drivers are located in this pack and rectified the problem.
Newer releases of win xp have the drivers as well
Further, I am told that DEVLDR is only required for DOS related sound on older games, so it is not really needed.
