Anyone flying out of Bembridge? Particularly interested in training providers, if any, on field. Any helios?
Thanks

Used to work out of there on pleasure flight ops but as far as I know its closed down.

IOW helis are at specialist flying at Sandown. The best fixed wing instructor on the island is Jim Bernie at Sandown on 01983 408374.

Specialist Flying - more details? do they train? - thanks. It's all a bit desparate I have an offer of a job on the Island (none flying) and need to get the important stuff before going for interview!

Yes they do. R22,44s and a Bell Jetranger as far as i remenber.

They always seemed to be busy but as a fixed wing type I dont know how good or bad they are.

Give the tower a call on 01983 405125 and they`ll be able to tell you more.

Good luck

Bembridge has either just "re-opened" or is in the process of doing so - something about the lease from the farmer who owns the land? Don't know about training on IOW, but Sandown should know. What job have you been offered??

It's .. er.. in Education. It's not a flying job

Cron - Snap is absolutley right about Jim Birnie, but he's definitely a fixed wing aviator!
Bembridge is now officially open (opening day a couple of weekends ago where they waived landing fees!!!) However, it is not licensed for training purposes at this time.
Specialist Flying School is still there, but I haven't seen any activity there for sometime. I imagine when the grass strip dries out a bit, then it will spring into life again?

Snap - Is that you Neil?
