Now I'm taken to believe that bombs are mighty expensive and in a war like the gulf war an awful lot of them are dropped. Surely anything dropped from a sufficient height will do lots of damage so why don't we save some money.

Lets strap some paveway laser jobbies on something cheap.
There are loads of heavy things available at knock-down prices..

The trouble is of course that after any decisive victory we always go straight in and pay for an extensive rebuilding scheme. Even more foresight could be employed by simply bombing with building materials.

Unfortunately, bombing with old fridges would open up accusations of chemical warfare, with all the unprocessed CFCs contained therein.

Not to mention the carcinogenic properties of old oil from car engine components.

Come to think of it... maybe the Health and Safety folk should have a close look at those Paveways... and their Mk80 series guts. All that high explosive? Got to be dangerous!! ;)

Even food aid can be dangerous, so with a little planning we could combine the assault with the humanitarian relief effort. I recall seeing footage of New Zealand's "assistance" in the first Afghan scrap (when the Russians were the Bad Guys). A Herc was dropping pallets of milk powder to the starving locals....good on ya NZ, they're in a desert with no water to mix the stuff up and besides which they're lactose intolerant, but never mind, it's the thought that counts. The footage showed two Afghans running after a parachuting pallet, only to be flattened by it when the wind changed suddenly.

Bring back the F2 Tornado with the Blue Circle radar. It could mix the bombs in flight and drop readymix on the palaces.
