Air Pacific in new aircraft deal
December 23, 2002

AIR Pacific, the Fijian international airline part-owned by Qantas, said today it would add two Boeing B747-400 aircraft and two Airbus A330-300s to its fleet next year.

Under a lease agreement with Singapore Airlines, the 747-400s will be delivered in April and June 2003.

The aircraft will serve the Nadi/Sydney route daily from April.

They would be fitted with inflight entertainment systems in each seat.

Delivery of the first Airbus will be in mid-2005 with the second in 2007 and a third and fourth, if options are exercised, in 2009 and 2011.

Engine choice for the A330-300 aircraft is still under negotiation.

Air Pacific also said it would add a fourth weekly Nadi/Los Angeles flight from June 2003.

Air Pacific CEO John Campbell said the new aircraft acquisition is the largest ever entered into by the airline "and will transform us to a mid-sized Pacific Rim airline."
