Merry Christmas from across the pond guys.

Our Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Center, New York City.

The second shot is a live webcam and, if it works properly, the picture should change about every 20 minutes. You can just see the date and time in the top left corner.

Happy Christmas from Southern California

When you live a place with more palm trees than snow, stereotype images of Christmas just don't work.

It's hard to go on a sleigh ride at the beach but we're an imaginative lot and have come up with a whole batch of variations on Christmas traditions, and some new ones of our own.

Merry Christmas to everybody in the best helicopter forum on the planet. Thanks to all the professionals for tolerating us amateur pilots and the silly questions that often get asked. For once, I am not working over the holiday, but I have managed to get hold of a helicopter for the duration so will certainly be flying.

Max kudos to the operators at Dyfed-Powys Police Helicopter Support Unit, who have sent the best card by far of the year. Unfortunately our unit here doesn't have a scanner, so I can't share it with you, but they take the prize for the best offering yet. Best wishes to them, and here's hoping this 25 Dec is better for them than last year's.

It's worth checking Bronx's livecam (p. 1) occasionally.

eg There's a beautiful scene at the Rockefeller Centre at the moment. Snow falling, people skating - you can almost hear the sound of Christmas carols in the background. Beautiful.

Let's all take a moment to remember the Helicopter crews around the world who will be working on Christmas....especially those that will be in harm's way while putting their skills to work. It is a special time of the year for families and we should remember the sacrifice our fellow pilots and crewmembers are making when they set aside their personal lives in order to serve their fellow man. Hats off to the EMS, Police, Fire, Rescue, and Military pilots whose service sets an example for the rest of us who fly more sedate operations.

We should take particular efforts to make it known to those pilots and crews who are directly involved in the war against terrorism , and who are now separated from their families at this special time, that we are thinking of them and saying a prayer for their safekeeping.

God Bless you all....have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Happy Christmas to all, at this time of year we should all remember what christmas is really all about.

A Big fat man in a red suit is able to fly around the world in one night, and land in very tight confined areas. If we could all, just for one day of the year, put our heads together and try to find out what he uses for propulsion, we here at the rotorheads forum could revolutionize
the whole aviation industry!!

JPG's need to be hosted on a site, then a link made to the db. If you don't have a site, e mail them and I'll host them for you.

Helicopters Australia with tanks on B3's, whatever next  How much can they put in the tanks?

There is a large company in NSW called Heli-Aust, so don't confuse the two............

407 Driver
30th Dec 2002, 04:10
...bolting tanks to a B3? That doesn't make much sense?? the internal GW is so low already? Having an underslung load with a B3, and using that exceptionally high external GW makes the B3 compete with some Meduim helicopters.

chopperdr
30th Dec 2002, 18:59
sirs: the tank capacity is 1100L, the tanks are considered external load. the b3/ simplex combination is by far the leader in light single capability and will compete head on with most medium twins. the company was helicopters australia, a division of helicopters new zealand.

John Eacott
30th Dec 2002, 22:25
The tank capacity is 1100L, but what can the B3 actually use? The Simplex tank for a 117 is 1200lt (IIRC), but I've yet to find a BK that can actually lift that much

Sorry to be going slightly OT ;)

chopperdr
30th Dec 2002, 22:41
sorry to get way off topic, tried to send a private message but to no avail. to answer your question, there is in fact a 1200L tank which i helped install on a b3 in spain. under the right conditions, low temp, fuel, pilot only you can get a full tank before reaching first excedence with the b3, amazing helicopter it is.

seasons greetings from tadcaster north yorkshire

AN ALTERNATIVE WHISKY CHRISTMAS CAKE RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

1 CUP WATER 1TSP SALT JUICE OF 1 LEMON
1 CUP SUGAR 1 TSP BAKING SODA 4 LARGE EGGS
2 CUPS DRIED FRUIT 1 CUP BROWN SUGAR 8 OZ NUTS
1 BOTTLE OF FINEST WHISKY

Method

Sample the whisky to check for quality. Take a large bowl, check the whisky again (to be sure it is still of the highest quality). Pour one level cup and drink. Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.
Add 1 teaspoon sugar and beat again. Make sure the whisky is still of. Cry another cup. Turn of the mixerer.
Break two eggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the dried fruit.
Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck on the beaterers, pry it off with a screwdriver. Check the whisky for tonsisticity. Sift two cups of salt or something (it’s not too important at this stage)
Check the whisky. Sift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Spoon of sugar or whatever is left. Grease the oven. Turn the cake tin to 350 degrees.
Don’t forget to beat off the turner. Give the bowl to the dog. Check the whisky and go to bed.
