Hi there,

You should ask on one of the D&G "Dunnunda & Godzone" forums (Dunnunda = Australia, Godzone = NZ I believe). Its kind-of "Pprune Australia"...

There are four separate D&G forums - see http://www.pprune.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=24

Sorry, I don't know any Ranchers.
Have a look under http://www.casa.gov.au/casadata/register/seven.htm. You might find some pastoral companies as owners.

Dakota: Ranch work? I assume you mean station flying? Most of the cattle stations and large pastoral properties and companies have now moved out of owning aircraft. And even if they do, keep in mind Australia is in the midst of the worst drought in history. Many stations have stripped off stock and are battling to feed very small breeding herds.

Are you talking mustering? If so, most mustering is now done with rotary wing aircraft - R22's and Bell 47's. I am aware of only one pastoral company which used to operate a fleet of Cessna singles. They gave around 400 hours per year, mixed with jackarooing and general station work.

Be aware that "hours building" in Australia is as hard as, or harder than anywhere else in the world - read these forums to find out how difficult it is for a low hours pilot to find a flying job.

But, with the luck of the Irish.........

M or F might be helpful in inquiries when you mention "Queens", even if they are C47's. Different country mate !!

Cheers, just looking to put some hours up somehow - hopefully will have a south african PPL by then (1 year) and am thinking about dropping by OZ for some chick and beer action. Whats the avg cost per hour for a C152/C172? I think I'll forget the farm work - sounds like too much 'work'!!

:D :D

Thanks Axiom - will check it out!
