There was an very interesting tread on PPRuNe about FlyBE. Someone deemed it necessary to delete the entire tread!
I can understand that sometimes it's necessary to delete some items.
But to delete an entire tread because You don't like some of it's content???
This kind of censorship is hair raising and one would only expect to find in a dictatorship like Iraq or so...
What happened to freedom of speech???

(Edited for spelling. Ordered by the SPELLING POLICE !!!)

very valid point, even the same question about this by me was deleted this morning

very sad as the tread contained more info about the company than we recieved in the last 6 months or so

The topic was FlyBE censorship, not FlyBE spelling police !!!
Anyway, have You ever posted something in a foreign language?

Only deleting those topics makes the situation even worse. At least tell us why those topics were deleted.
Facts are that a lot of pilots are leaving Flybe so what is true about those rumours???

 I agree entirely, the FlyBe thread was providing some great information about the company and current state of play. WHY WAS IT DELETED, from what I could see of it there was nothing anymore damaging in it than you would find in other topics.

Does anyone know what inparticular part of this subject caused it to be censored?

Tonsils in, everyone!

There are two common reasons why threads disappear:

1) The thread contains some information (i.e. something that could cause legal problems) that needs review by the admin folks, so it gets moved (at least temporarily) to a private forum where the review can take place,

OR

2) The person who started the thread decides to delete their initial post, which therefore deletes the entire thread.

Everyone is quick to jump to conclusion 1 (and then of course scream "censorship"), but I've just had a good look in the private Admin forum and can't find it anywhere. If it had been marked for review, it should be in there. There's not even any discussion regarding that thread.

So, while I'm not 100% sure that it hasn't been moved by an admin or mod, it doesn't appear to have been moved in the normal way.

Does anyone know who is the author of the original thread? Has anyone tried to contact that person?

Perhaps it's wise to explore the possibility of option 2 and settle down with the accusations in the meantime.

ok that is clear, there was a pretty nasty personal allegation with not so pretty implications hidden in thread
point taken then, still sad for all the rest of the info though

So implications about the"Walter Mitty"character or the "Management" or both ? either way somebody isn't the Happy bunny most of the posters would lead us to believe !

I'll just back up McD on this. We don't delete threads. If we have concern about the legality of content, or if a post is in serious breach of the rules, it gets moved to admin, where the "seriousness" of the breach is discussed. After a cooling off period they are often put back. But if the person who started the thread dislikes the direction it is going, he can remove the thread by deleting his (first) post.

And as this thread has reached a "natural " conclusion, I'll close it. If you want to reopen a discussion on that topic, feel free. Just try ot keep it within the rules of the forum.
