There should be some studies out there, as read on another post, done by militairy, Swiss Air, and others, on the effect of lights on or off inside the cockpit during flight.
What are your preferences? I prefer the overide switch to on. If I have the lights off, I tend to doze off.
TCAS working, wx. radar on, logo and wing lights on, just in case.

It takes 30 minutes for your eyes to adjust to darkness. Just when you need them most, they won't be there for you. It's hard enough flying off that dime store standby ADI in perfect conditions, it'd be a rough transition in the dark. I perfer a dark cockpit, and a sleep countermeasure strategy that doesn't involve white light.

It can even take up to 45 minutes, and more if you are a smoker.
Did you know though, that it takes 103 seconds to get 98% of the vision back and that it is a hyperbolic curve that doesn't start at '0'. With those facts, for me, fatigue is still a greater problem.
