G`day all, question for ya. What determines whether a Helicopters official use is Military or Commercial? Is it in its registration docs, callsign or something else, if at all?

Weird scenario, Heli engine co. supplies an overhauled engine for installation into a commercial helicopter, which turns out is being used for training military pilots.....(non nato country)

Possible serious violation of export license ensues......?

Wondering where the liability starts and ends...and what is legally deemed a military helo and what is deemed a commercial helo (for export purposes as this stuff has to be air tight post 9/11)

Cheers all,

Speedy

Is this a certain Oxford-based school in the UK?? The ones who have trained Algerian pilots (among many other nations) for years and years?

nah, unit was shipped overseas to a non NATO country as a commercial engine for a commercial helicopter. Turns out the helo is being used for training military pilots, who may or may not be allies to the country that shipped it.

Dunno, weird one.
