I upgraded some time ago from Win 98 to Win 2000, since I was reliably informed that Win 2000 is a very stable platform. (It is!)

I've just found a couple of programmes which I would like to reinstall. They are older, and state on the box that they are suitable for Win 95, 98, NT.

My question is- has anyone experience with installing older software on an updated system? Do you think they would work? And, more importantly, would they crash my system if I install them??

Any help appreciated.

If they are OK for Win NT then they 'should' work on 2000 - as its basicaly the same system.

Even if they do not say they are ok then I would give it a go - I have loaded many programs onto systems that they were supposedly not designed for and most of them worked OK - I have also had problems with programs going onto systems that they were recommended for and had lots of probs.

This is one of the continual joys of using 'Uncle Bills' excellent software.
