A man tried to hijack a GOL airplane, the Brazilian low fare, on the flight between Cuiabá and Campo Grande (Brazil). The 56 year old man embarked with a 2 litre bottle full with gasoline and 15 minutes into the flight he poured the gasoline on himself, some other passengers and the cockpit door and make a threat to put fire on him and the airplane. He wanted to deviate the plane to Brasilia to make protest against the government. Thanks to the passengers overcoming the man the flight landed at Campo Grande where the police was awaiting him.

That's a short story based on the news that you can find here (http://www.estadao.com.br/agestado/noticias/2002/nov/12/187.htm) ,in Portuguese unfortunately for our English readers, with a picture of the man being hold down by the pax on the galley.

I do not guarantee this story wont change in the future.
