The agony for the remaining 50 or so Air Switzerland staff who have not been paid since September might soon be over.
Mainly due to pressure from the mandatory national pension fund (which has not seen contributions for some time either), it is likely that Air Switzerland will be declared bankrupt on or around 18 November 2002. This date has to do with the current absence of a key official in the sheriff's office of the district where Air Switzerland is registered.
This will provide some relief to the remaining employees because as victims of an officially insolvent company they will automatically qualify for government assistance for a period of four months.
