As a single man without a care in the world, I have decided to change my vocation. After many enquiries I have been told that the best place to learn to fly is Florida, where the weather is good most of the year around and the cost is substantially less even considering living expenses. I know that us British have a much argued position that we think we are better than everyone else especially the Americans, so prestige is at a premium. I have met many a "Pilot" who can recount tales of superiority over the opposition, but upon closer inspection have only prejudice and national pride to explain the fortune they have invested in their prospective careers. Therefore without prejudice can someone tell me the better school to learn to fly at in the Florida area. Supplemental to this request I have heard that PAN-AM are worried about loosing their JAA approval? who else has this approval? I would also like helpful information regarding courses to take from PPL to Commercial level. Are there any pitfalls and how to look out for them? Finally, can anyone tell me why the Starship Enterprise doesn't have a Cloaking Device??????

Here's a few approved schools that spring to mind. You can also look at the below address for approved schools: http://www.srg.caa.co.uk/documents/srg_fcl_approvedftos.pdf

I cannot offer any info on PAN'AM Flight Academy. However, you can contact them at:
http://www.panamacademy.com

European Flight Training(EFT) have just started up in Ft. Pierce, Florda. After their approval on the 26th March EFT will offer full JAA CPL(A)modular courses including FI(A)(Instructor Rating).
I believe their web site is still under construction, but you can have a go anyway.

You can also contact Orlando Flight Training:
http://www.flyorlandoflorida.com/
They offer JAA PPL/IMC training....

On a more serious note......The Question on the Starship Enterprise....I don't know, however, I will have a look in my CAA ATPL course notes for the answer. I'm sure I saw something about Dylithium Crystals in there!

Jumbo Flaps - I think the Enterprise has to be seen as the under-dog. If they had a cloaking device as well, they'd all fly around missing each other! :)
