This is a quote from a letter recieved by the (very Small) flight Dept. that I have the luck to work with.

"as,according to our records and the recent questionaire that you completed on behalf of your company, you currently employ a disproportionatley small number of women/ethnic minorities we would welcome the opportunity to make a few suggestions as to how you could rectify the situation"

Question 1 Are women an ethnic minority?
Question 2 Are we to employ someone who comes from said minority even if he/she is not the right person for the job?

Its all gone mad, has it not.

We will continue to employ the best people for the job in hand irrespective of sex or ethnic background but for how long will we be permitted by this administration to do so?:(

Question 1. Yes, but only during first full moon of a leap year.

Question 2. Yes. A company needs to hire people that are completely unsuitable for the job as long as all minorities are represented in equal proportions, even if a company is unable to compete due to lack of skilled people

I think any company should have the right to hire people they deem suitable and should not be subjected to outside pressure.

I am sad to see that EU countries are following US example for Equal opportunity employment where people are hired based on their colour, sexual preference, sex, religion, or ethnic heritage and not their actual skills or experience in a particular job.

Your company should write back welcoming their sugestions as to how you could do this. It would be interesting to see how they could justify your company taking people based on racial grounds and not on who is the best for the job. That would be racial discrimination - even if it is positive discrimination (dictionary definition: make a distinction between).
