Hi folks,

Can anybody shed a little light on a particular subject for me..namely these rumours about the CAA giving some kind of dispensation towards an FAA class 1 medical holder.

I have an FAA first class medical and have held it for the last 3 years, I also have an FAA Multi-CPL/IR, and CFI rating ( certified flight instructor..!! ).

In all honesty, the only reason I haven't gone down the JAR route is because of my eyesight, which is a little bit 'iffy' to say the least, but as you know if it can be corrected to 20/20 then the FAA are happy..! So what's this about the CAA..????

and please don't say give the CAA a call, I'm in the US at the moment and the phone lines are appalling ( I've already tried email, to no avail )

Any help would be absolutely, honestly, gratefully recieved,

captmav,

Have you tried these pages at all?

class one eyesight requirements (http://www.caa.co.uk/srg/med/default.asp?page=537)

and

general medical requirements (http://www.caa.co.uk/srg/med/document.asp?groupid=211)

They may help you get the info you're after.

Captmav,

Help cannot be given until we know your prescription. The FAA CPL route does indeed change the class 1 initial medical criteria, including some of the eyesight issues.

If you don't want to post your presciption then message me and I will gladly offer all the relevant info I have.

Regards
LF
