Pilot shortage

The RAF and Royal Navy were short of nearly 200 pilots last month, Geoff Hoon, the Defence Secretary, said during a debate in the House of Commons. The 196 job vacancies included 42 RAF fast-jet pilots, five Royal Navy Sea Harrier pilots and ten Navy helicopter pilots.

The 'pool' is drying up....

Good for us all...

I hereby volunteer to do any of the above jobs for beer money and a packet of crisps.

I'd do it for a packet of crisps and a glass of water.

Likewise

If they would let me apply with Contacts then I would be right there. And on reflection I also am willing to bring my own crips and beer.

Anyone got any idea on whether the RAF or the Navy may except Glasses wearers to fly. Surely to join the Tristar fleet the requirements are in line with CAA's class one!

It's their loss aswell as ours anyway. There are so many people out there who have excellent flying aptitude, but discriminated because they wear glasses!

I'll throw a crisps party if you would let me join!!!

Unfortunatly, everyone who starts flying training with the RAF, must be able to fly a fast jet. Therefore people who are capable of flying Tristar's or Hercs can be rejected for a list of reasons, such as;
Arms to short
Legs to long
Colour vision
Other sight problems, like the need to wear glasses.
Unable to reach high enough above the head.
Too small.
Too big.
