This looks like the healthy tailpipe of an old B737-200 Pratt & Whitney JT3(?). The turbine appears intact with the mixer undamaged, reversers not left deployed as they invariably are in an emergency stop. Obviously the front fan is the damaged part, but why would they photograph the totally undamaged bit rather than the glam press pictures of jagged metal sticking out of the cowling? Maybe there's not a lot to see there either!

The story is so horribly writen that you can't even trust the aircraft model.

Clearly the photo is looking up a tailpipe but it sure don't look like a GE or P&W B737 as neither use mixers that I'm aware.

can somebody figure out what this operator flies.

Just read the article in the Elko news.

It may not be the most elegant piece I've ever read, but it did strike me as being non-sensational.

Perhaps a bit of credit is due to the journo and editor for this approach?

Can someone change the thread title, now it's confirmed as a -200 not -700?

sounds like someone who just doesn't like 737-700s trolling...

I mean, the alternative is that they are illiterate and I prefer to think the best in people :D
