G'day all, got a question about age to hold an ATPL.

According to the big ol' wise one (CASA) you got to be 21 to hold your ATPL.

Now, after surfing through the big white rats webiste and looking at the cadet details, they take you in if you're aged 17+ in march 03. That means if a person enters aged 17, when they finish they will be 18. If QF takes them in, they will still only be 18. How then can this person fly for the airline unless the restrictions for SO is different and doesn't require an ATPL.

Hope someone can help

CC

According to Qantas they require, among other things.....

Hold Credits for all Australian Airline Transport Pilot (Aeroplane) Licence theory subjects

So you don't actually need to hold an ATPL licence (Which you can only get when you meet all these requirements (http://www.casa.gov.au/manuals/regulate/fcl/form747.pdf)) you just need the theroy passes.

Also "If you wish to fly as pilot-in-command of a multi-crew aircraft you will need to obtain an ATPL. " so if you are an F/O or S/O you aren't PIC

And I still reckon it was a big mistake when they lowered the CPL age to 18yrs.
