Fact:

At Brooklands, in 1911, student pilots drove around the airport in an old rattletrap of a monoplane they nicknamed "The Taxi".

The expression spread. Whence, to "taxi" an aeroplane.

Guess you ought to take that up with the journalist who wrote it in the newspaper! I think it was the Surrey Herald but don't quote me as I was given the cut out by a relative who lives down the road from Brooklands!

Thought it would be interesting reading for all those wannabees however some of you have to bring down the bar - prove it's not and then we'll talk!
