Anybody got any experience of the FAA class 1 in the UK compared to the JAA class 1 in the UK?

Easier, tougher?

I get both my CAA and FAA renewed every year by an excellent CAA doctor in the UK. There is very little difference between the two medicals , except that in some issues the FAA are more tolerant , but to be fair in others more probing.
Get in touch if you want the doctors name and contact no.

I am most interested in the FAA eyesight requirements hopefully being easier than the CAA's.

Would it be possible to have an intial FAA class1 medical and then if I passed, convert this to a CAA class 1 either straight away or on renewal, because I don't really fancy training in the US.

I fall short of the CAA eyesight requirements and hope to get a CAA Class 1 via the back door of the FAA route.

PS. I have already found a FAA doctor in Norfolk

Cheers
