Maybe not African Aviation but I think a few very good lessons can be learned here (again) :rolleyes:

CRASH OF SU-27 DURING AIRSHOW DEMONSTRATION FLIGHT ON 27 JULY 2002 AT LVOW

2 pilots ejected and OK,
76 people died,
3 top officials under investigation in the court of law.

The crash recorder data was recovered and 3-D model of the flight path was
computer simulated. All aspects of the preparation of the show and
responsible personnel actions were investigated, as well as the radio
communications with the ground.

Results:

1. The flight crew did not have a flight card.
2. The flight crew was not briefed about the features of the airfield.
3. There were no practice flights over the zone of flying.
4. The show officials did not co-ordinate the participant's actions.
5. When the aircrew violated the flight zone, the ground did not warn
them.

History:

1. The Su-27 became uncontrollable after a series of aerobatics
maneuvers at very low altitude.
2. When they performed the very first loop, it became obvious that they
were extremely close to the crowd and neither of the officials present at
the tower reacted on this.
3. The flight data showed that the maneuvering took place at the
altitude lower than 200 m, which is well below the airshow limit.
4. The event itself was not approved by the local authorities and the
requirement for the practice flights was dropped.
