View Full Version : Colour vision: Lantern vs. Ishihara

Most countries use the ICAO recomendation for colour vision stadards. That is the Farnsworth Lantern test (so I am led to believe). What countries use the Ishihara test ONLY as the minimum standard. I know that Japan is one..:(

The USA has the lantern test and then the signals test, according to threads elsewhere.

I'd also be very interested in Japan as I'd love to get a job there in the future. I've spent some time there on holiday and buzzing around in a Dash-8 there would be a dream come true. The requirement is 100hrs in type though ;-(

I don't think it's true that Japan only accepts Ishihara. I believe Anomaloscope is used as a secondary test should someone fail the Ishihara. However I have to check this info as I think they recently changed their regulations a fair bit.
