Help!

I have been, stupidly, without virus protection for several weeks and seem to be infected...

Whilst trying to install McAfee virusscan 6.0 it won't work.

Numerous calls and chats with McAfee don't seen to have resolved installation prolems.

Can anyone help with suggestions or a floppy virus scan disk - costs refunded!

Running Win XP...

If you go to this web site you can geta free online scan that should identify the virus for you:

http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_pcc.asp

You may get the necessary information on how to clean your computer too, if not there then try the symantec web site at:

http://www.symantec.com

You will find links on the web site and a box to type in the name of your virus, they tell all about it and usually how to clean it off.

Best of luck.

PPRUNE WINS AGAIN!!!

Thank you Blue Eagle. The site you gave found, (I had already done that), and removed the virus, (I couldn't do that!), and I have now managed to install my new virus software.

Its a shame that it took a competitor of McAfee to allow me to install their prgram.

No longer unclean!!! :)

Thanks.

I ran that Housecall free virus scan and found evidence of an attack by an email virus (the file was saved in the TEMP folder but evidently never run - I had my security settings in 'high'). I remember receiving the infected email, too, and it kept crashing my Outlook Express program.

I have since upgraded Internet Explorer and Outlook Express to the latest versions.
