Greetings all. Just wondering what the going rates are for
grI/II instructors?

A mate of mine works for a company that pays the casual award $45 per flight hour however only pay $8 hr when "supervising" solo students but still charge the students full dual rates. Is this profiteering or just the norm, given that the instructor is likely to be under more stress when he has a student somewhere out there?

Any comments welcome.

Profiteering, sounds like.
We get $22 an hour for supervising solo and the ratet is $15 less than the dual rate

I am employed fulltime so no complaints from me.

Tell you students that you are not getting paid when they are solo however they are paying for your time. That may stir the pot.

Remember pilots are considered to be an expensive waste of space to management but they may listen to the students.

Alternately get the ACC to look at it.

Good luck

Now if you would like to know what you are legally entitled to as a minimum go here...

I believe the limitation on claims for back pay is 7 years, so after being illegally screwed by your employer and moving on to greener fields simply put in a written log of claims for the unpaid hours.

Light blue touch paper and stand well back.

I understand toohey, first job funnily enough paid the same. The moved and got grade one and $28 000 wage which went up when they realized they would have trouble finding a replacement if I took a better offer else where (both time had good boses). The first company still pays it's instructors the same now as it did 10 years ago, hasn't the cost of living gone up?
