Invalid registry entry

I have Norton Utilities 2002, and everytime i run system checker i get about 14 errors saying how there is an invalid registry entry.
One of the solutions is to delete the invalid entry. Nothing happens to the system, but just curious as to why this always happens!

I sometimes get those after uninstalling programs. Some uninstalling routines work less thoroughly than others, and leave stuff in the registry.
