Does anyone know whether there is a hotel in or near Palermo Airport? Also how far is it from the city? Cheers

You could try the Porto Raisi near the airport - functional and clean. Most crew would prefer to head off to Mondello wherer the beach life is, can recommend La Torre. Mondello is a 40 euro taxi ride, but a much better location.
No big hotels in the town centre, better off finding a pension bt the train station or have a look down Corso Vitt. Em. No really big hotels, but a few small nice ones. Get the train into town not a taxi, and watch out for earthquakes!
Can't help with phone numbers I'm afraid - find the tourist office and they will book for you.
