Eva terminated contracts for 60 expat pilots after 9/11.
That was brutal, many close to retirement.
Nice way to steal 4,200,000 US$.
EXPL.: For every year of service pilot has 2 salaries in pension fund, but to take money out someone must stay minimum 15 years in company + be 55 years old.
Average stay was 5 years=10 salaries
10 X 7,000 US$ =70,000 $
70,000 X 60=4,200,000 US$
All pilots should remember this.

Besides, the hostile style of management at EVA makes it only worse than what's going on at CX. Management may not fully honor your contract. Overtime is paid based on a 4-month average of your flight time. Morale is at bottom low. The company is reporting profits but the pilots are still not getting their full amount of salary and no backpay is expected even when the original salary is reinstated. In summary, EVA may be an ok place to work for when no one else is hiring, especially if you need money to provide food for your family. But once there comes more options on the market, you'd probably regreat for your choice of employment. By then, you will find yourself bonded by some $50K OR 60 USD for a right seat rating. Between EVA and CAL, I would go with CAL since the money is slightly better and the management is more friendly.
