Hi, I am thinking of training to be a cargo pilot but i can't find much information. I was wondering what type of license is required for cargo transportation & also can anyone name any good websites for info on pilot license types or just cargo pilot information in general?
thanks in advance :)

For a start you'll need a CPL (Cargo Pilot's Licence) then an IR (Intermodal Rating) then an ATPL (Air Transportation Parcel Licence)!!! :D
A website? How about www.fedex.com :D

Exactly the same as passenger, i.e. a JAA fATPL.
Best source of info is this forum - just plough though a month or two of old posts and you'll find everything you could want to know.
PS do you notice how everyone is spelling licence

And you confuse further Thunder Child as he/she will need to have passed the ATP written exams to be able to fly an aircraft over 5700kg on commercial ops, most freighters are over this weight. I see you are in Scotland, look out for a new freight operator soon in the area.

Not you Thunder, the questioner is in Scotland... Sheez...
I assume that it's just as hard to break into cargo flying as it is pax flying?

Time for the big, bad padlock.
I've been enjoying Adnams Brewery BROADSIDE (A.B.V.4.7% Price £2.20 per pint) all this evening and throughly recommenced it is!

Island Air,
Care to expand on what you know about this new freight operator in Scotland? Would it have anything to do with Short's 360's by any chance??
