I am currently looking to begin an approved course, either at jerez or valencia. I have saved quite a bit but would like to start asap ie I will need a loan, and not wait until I have saved the full amount. Could anyone please share their experiences with regards to which banks or other sources are willing to listen to a wannabe. HSBC supposedly have a good rep but seem to be more cautious as of recently. Many thanks

Barclays career loan department in Liverpool will give you £8000 at 5.5% (Actually may well be significantly less than that now)...you don't repay until 2 months after your approved course has finished. I got the loan...very simple process, well trodden, you will need a sign off from the admin at Jerez or Valencia...needs to be an approved course tho'.

Hi SK and NB
I am also looking at the approved course with Airmed in Valencia. However i will be unable to commit to a school untill late 2002!!

If poss can you answer the following questions?
Have you been to visit the school at Valencia.
Did you have to sit their entry exams.
Do you have any info on there pass/fail rates.
Are there students "self sponsered".
What is your history (A levels,Degree etc)

To answer your question about loans.I have been informed that the career develope loan offered by Barclays can only be given if the school is based in the UK.
However HSBC seem to be the "recommended" bank to go to for a loan!!!

Thankyou in advance

beaver - many thanks for the info.
Mutley , haven't visited airmed yet, am trying to organise it for mid - late Jan. Unfortunately have not much info on them. Received brochure and video, not really much good, full of glossy pictures of people in uniforms and nothing else. However cost is very appealing as is the package, seems to have more hours both flying and ground school than jerez. Will only be able to decide once have seen them. On this note if anyone has any experience of either please could they share it here, both positive and negative would be appreciated. In terms of background, I have a degree and A levels. Feel free to mail me and I'll let you know any info I find out.
