Hi guys, hope everyone is keeping well and flying safe!

Our company is looking at the possibility of acquiring a GIV-SP (YOM 1998 to 2000 approx) as the prices are relatively attractive now. We have previously owned and/or operated mostly Embraer based products (E50P and E55P) and we love the aircraft and support very very much. Based out in South East Asia, the support programs mean a lot.

Whilst researching (and chatting with other pilot/operators/owners) on the GIV-SP), there were a few items that we were worried about and were hoping to see if there is some real world feedback from folks whom fly these aircrafts.

1. We’ve seen some earlier GIV aircrafts being sold and parted out.

Is there a problem obtaining parts for GIV-SP’s? Im given to understand the GIV-SP and G450 is fairly similar and Gulfstream has stated that they intend to continue supporting these aircrafts until 2030.

The G450 was made up until 2018 and hence that includes aircrafts some 6 years old now only. It would seem the key differences are the nose of the aircraft, avionics and the engines. Besides that, everything else should be fairly similar?

I suppose the question is :- If we buy a GIV-SP, will access to parts be a problem?

And if yes, does it then mean we can mitigate this risk by buying a G450 (which we’d prefer not to due to price difference), but it might be better than buying a large metal cabbage that cant fly due to no parts.

2. Can anyone share any thoughts about the maintenance and operating costs of these aircrafts? Understand that they are heavy jets with similarly heavy costs.

The ones that we are looking at have engines on RRCC. Is there any comprehensive program that takes care of everything else similar to Embraer’s EEC or JJSI’s tip to tail?

I truly struggle to see the additional value in a G450 besides the fact that its slightly newer and better iterations of its engine but im hoping to be educated.

Hopefully we can have this thread as a a resource pool for folks looking into buying a GIV-SP or G450 (and trying to rationalize the price difference between the 2).

Thanks in advance! Happy flying
