Looks like I'm going to be posted to Rio de Janeiro on business for a couple of months :) - does anyone know of a flying school in that area where I can self fly hire an R44 or Hughes 300 as a PPL? Seems like I shouldn't miss the opportunity to fly over the bay, Sugarloaf Mountain, etc!

Since I'd use a safety pilot and would be happy to book the time as PUT, I guess the issue of licence validity doesn't come in to it, but just out of interest, is Brazil a member of JAA?

I've been surfing the Internet in search of such an operation, but I can't find anything (probably coz I can't speak Portuguese!!)

Thanks.

Brazil is not a JAA member. You will need a safetypilot even if they were JAA, because ATL language i Portuguese and don't expect too much from the kind of english that controllers in Central/South America speak. One bigger helo-company that I remember is called Audi (like the german Car manufacturer). The Robinson Homepage has links their South American dealers.
Cheers
