Geez you blokes, with all the pommie ex-mil Gazelle drivers I have read on Rotorheads I thought a few might have a lead or two........an old training book or something.

In particular I would like to know the sequence of events in the starting of the engine, please :)

You may have left yourself open for some smartar$e replies there but nothwithstanding that, you may have to be a bit more specific.

I have Astazou training notes before me so what do you want to know?

Aladdinsane,
if you haven't already read it, there's an article 'For the love of Lama' in the April 2002 issue of Heli-Ops. It's short with nice big pictures but you might find it interesting.

From the tone of your questions it would appear "ne marche pas".

Are you attempting to make it function?

First step would be a full transverse lobotomy and have anything you know about gas turbines erased from your memory especially US ones.

Now start again. Find an old automatic electric toaster. Study the workings of the timing mechanism - bi-metallic strips etc.

Take a course in logic states and NAND everything.

Approach said engine with renewed vigor. Voila!

BTW if it won't go, the start fuel is (I think) shut off by sensing oil pressure above a certain value. If said switch indicates that there is oil pressure erroneously no start fuel. Given that toaster cards are in order.

Bon chance!

was not trying to be a smarty pants, just attempting to rustle up some interest in my query........seems to have worked anyway.

Taff, thanks for the offer, as my last post alluded to it is the start I am interested in. How similiar to an Arriel as fitted to a AS350??

Thanks gentleman and yes I agree, very noisy puppy.....
