It is with great sadness that I report the passing of an old mate, Alex Nash - we go back 40+ years. Alex died at home on last Friday morning (26th January), surrounded by his family. He had suffered from cancer for the past two years or so.

His flying career started as a Hercules Nav, but eventually he saw sense and became a helicopter pilot and instructor, finishing his service as a CFS(H) tutorial instructor.

He then joined the airlines, and swiftly became a Captain, initially on Air 2000 and subsequently TUI.

Fondest condolences to Sue and the family, we will see you very soon.

Thanks sir - I had the great pleasure of working with Alex for some of those 40 years. He dug me out of the poo when, while travelling to a wedding in Cheshire from my AAC-exchange dahn sarf, I realised that although I'd packed my No.1 dress uniform for the occasion (hanging neatly behind the pax seat) I had forgotten that I'd dry-cleaned the trousers which were still safely on their own hanger back home. Quick diversion into the Shawbury patch and a very amused Alex swiftly handed over his spare pair - what a star :ok:

He'll be missed.

That's sad news- Alex and I were on 30 Sqn together as navs before he went to the dark side. I hadn't seen him since I left the service in late 73. We had brief contact following me seeing his ugly mug on Prune some 10 years ago. Was he still a Lotus man?

Alex along with itinerate ice cream salesman and I were the XMG bombing crew of June 83. We missed the statue in the square but took out part of the butchers shop roof with our USL. Well if they will mortar whilst coming over the fence what do they expect. RIP my friend, Blue Skies.
