Job Description

Reports to: Program Manager /Country Director / WCS Aviation Fleet Manager
Location: Manda National Park and Sena Oura National Park
Country Program/Sector: Republic of Chad
Position Type: Full Time
Internal liaison: Law Enforcement, biomonitoring and logistical team
Expected travel: Occasional international travel for maintenance and meeting purposes

Working with local communities and organizations, that knowledge is applied to address species, habitat and ecosystem management issues critical to improving the quality of life of rural people whose livelihoods depend on the direct use of natural resources.Qualification Requirements



Current US FAA commercial pilot license with instrument rating;
FAA second-class medical certificate;
400 hours of PIC flying experience and solid knowledge of operating under FAA regulations;
Experience in Africa, especially francophone Africa an advantage;
High-performance piston engine time is required, preferably on the C206 model or similar;
Experience with wildlife surveys, anti-poaching surveillance and bush flying in remote areas is an advantage;
Experience flying under FAR part 135 and/or FAA A & P license is an advantage;
Ability to communicate effectively within cross-cultural teams or varied capacities, both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions related to work;
Willingness and motivation to be based and live in a challenging and remote location;
English and French language fluency is required.

I am excited to express my interest in the Conservation at Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) in Chad. With a strong background in aviation and a deep passion for wildlife conservation, I am eager to contribute to WCS's mission of preserving wildlife and wilderness.

Having a current US FAA commercial pilot license with instrument rating and a second-class medical certificate, along with 400 hours of PIC flying experience, I am well-equipped to handle the responsibilities of this role. My experience in Africa, particularly in francophone regions, further enhances my suitability for this position.

I have a solid understanding of FAA regulations and experience in high-performance piston engine flying, including the C206 model. Additionally, my experience with wildlife surveys and anti-poaching surveillance in remote areas makes me a valuable asset to WCS's conservation efforts.

I am fluent in both English and French, which is crucial for effective communication within cross-cultural teams. My willingness to be based in challenging and remote locations demonstrates my commitment to making a meaningful impact in wildlife conservation.
