A beautiful display over the presidential palace and Abu Dhabi beachfront today, thanks to President Vladimir Putin landing today in his Ilyuchin 96, escorted by SU35.
Putin's Diplomatic Flight: SU-35 Escort to UAE for Key Talks - YouTube

The UAEAF display team flew smoke trails with the russian flag over the arrival of the president.
So much for "international sanctions".... Well done our rulers and government.
Difficult to swallow for sure, for the anglo-saxon management of EK and EY (Aussies, NZ, Brits...) But if unhappy they can complain locally, which will be a fantastic career boost.

The insecurity to need a fighter escort during a routine State visit is laughable in itself ;) Nothing “bitter to swallow” knowing Al Dhafra hosts several dozen coalition combat aircraft and Patriot missile batteries….. it’s as if you are ignorant to how that region operates, smoke and mirrors!

On the contrary, he is showing that he can go everywhere despite the west claim to arrest him. Plus, he always move escorted by fighters.
and all the Patriot missiles… no one dare to make a move. Putin is showing who is in charge. Good move!

Not quite everywhere ! there is an arrrest warrant active for him in 123 countries . He doesn’t travel far these days .
Perhaps he is visiting the many Russian citizens who have moved to the region for “health reasons”.
An old adage which seems appropriate” if you lie down with dogs you will wake up with fleas.”

You don't know who I am - I would be surprised if you could challenge me in any way regarding the knowledge of the region.
The way things are operated here ? You will remember (maybe) how the Canadian Air Force was literally kicked out of the area and their base : "it was announced on October 11, 2010 that the facility would be closed. On the same day, a military transport aircraft carrying the Canadian Defence Minister and the Chief of the Defence Staff returning from a visit to Afghanistan was refused landing permission at the airbase housing Camp Mirage"
Long live to our rulers, who know where is the interest of the country and citizens.
I can imagine your friends at Al Dhafra AB looking upwards and watching the Su 35s circling over the circuit....
And please, don't say "coalition" - it's used by those who don't want to put their involvement forward, and conceal themselves behind their maids.

green where Putin CANNOT go.
every other color is theoretically accepted. USA is not a subscriber of the Rome treaty of the international criminal court.
I guess he can move around..

The comment was “he can go everywhere “ he can’t . His movements are severely restricted , of course his old buddies in the former USSR and Iran allow him to visit and it seems also the UAE and China , new best friends ?
As you say theoretically some countries who are not signatories to the Rome treaty would permit a visit, but I think we all know that’s not going to happen anytime soon .

Not many comments from UAE here (except mine) They know that IP adresses are easily tracked in this part of the world, and nobody is ready to jeopardise a fruitful airline career.
So just noses up, and enjoy the Sukhois flypasts.

Didn't Zelensky say that Timmy Clarke is an enemy of Ukraine, or some such claim due to EK continually flying to Russia.

I’m not insulting you or the UAE in any way or form please re-read and not take it as such. When someone says “it’s as if you are ignorant” means they are going out of their way NOT to call you ignorant…. When I say “smoke and mirrors” that is the “game” of geopolitics, and you know the region quite smartly walks a fine line on most conflicts to try to stay on good terms with all as evidence by hosting coalition forces (yes I said it, it’s a commonly used word that describes those forces) which have been actively used to launch air strikes several times within the last week with the UAEs permission while simultaneously hosting the Russian President….you need to be able to have rational discussion without getting emotional or defensive…..otherwise I will think you are insecure, arrogant or just trolling for conflict on here… but I’d prefer just to think you simply misinterpreted my post!

FYI I think “my friends” at Al Dhafra would love to see a little Su-35 airshow! I’m sure they’d look up and scream “COOOL!”

As far as Canada yes I am well aware but that’s what happens when a minor trading partner with a minor military presence didn’t play nice with the UAE on landing slots for EK and EY. The point is play nice with the UAE and all are welcome…. That much is obvious to all isn’t it? And that’s why Putin’s visit is not earth shattering nor an affront to the west.

You need a thicker skin if you still find any of that insulting as again that was not my intent.

Thats my point, no one is going to shoot him down, no one is going to arrest him…. no need for a fighter escort but cool to look at…..Putin is keeping relations open with the UAE which is prudent … I don’t see the point of anti western chest thumping on here for a normal state visit of a major world leader to a global financial trading hub. Iranian leaders under sanction come and go freely to New York all the time … it’s called diplomatic immunity, the fighters were just “Willy waving”, I would have rather seen him escorted by Su-57s… now that would have been impressive!

That was quite pathetic I must say, been a while since the last time anyone has put his tongue so deep into his own ar**. You must be a delight in a fight.

Not surprised Putes is in the UAE, checking on his assets.
As Alec Guinness once described Dubai..."You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy..."
Putes fits in just nicely...
