At about 14.20 today (15/11/23) I saw what appeared to be a Catalina flying west parallel to the coast at Worthing, West Sussex. Shortly before that I spotted another high wing piston twin (green/white) turning to the SE. Did these originate from Shoreham airport? And why? Answers on a postcard (address withheld).

Good spot - it was HU-16 Albatross N98TP operating out of Southampton. Had a bit of fun down towards Beachy Head. Looks like it was doing some air to air with a Jet Ranger from Shoreham.

Bit about N98TP plus pics (https://tpaero.com/grumman-hu-16-albatross/birth-of-a-legend/)...

Also a Raven Air P-68 was heading west down the coast a little earlier, did a couple of orbits over Brighton, tho the other aircraft you mention was prob the Albatross during its rendezvous.

Maybe this is Rishi's new initiative for stopping the boats.
