If we extrapolate across from the 139: Not very well and about 200kgs (not sure if its even certified on the 189 but happy to be wrong).

Yes it is. From the TCDS:
Flight into known icing condition is permitted only when the kit Full Ice Protection System p/n 8G3000F00111 or p/n°8G3000F00311 is installed.

I'm sure the Sakhalin Energy machines have it - they were insistent. (No idea if they are still flying though with the spares embargo!)

UK SAR AW189s have it fitted. It can have snags but it generally works fine.

Difficult to provide all weather SAR in the Scottish mountains without IPS working.

I gather the 189 fit is quite different from the 139 fit which is generally rubbish. I don’t fly 139s.
