Need For Speed

HI Just wondering about after having forked out thousands of pounds on Pilot training, for PPL CPL IR Multi-rating etc, does anybody have any idea how long these licences/ ratings are valid for, considering it can take 2 years+ to get an airline job after the training, and how much to remain current......any info appreciated.

Your main thing to worry about is keeping your multi-rating and IR valid. This requires a renewal test once a year (you can combine the two tests). If you needed no training it would probably cost you about £700.

Don't worry about your PPL/CPL, as long as you're current on the aircraft you're flying they're valid. If you want to keep your single-engine rating valid it needs to be renewed every 2 years, either by flying 12 hours (6 hours PIC) and an hour with an instructor during the last 12 months of expiry or you need to do a Licence Proficiency Check with a PPL examiner (about £250).
