From: https://minister.infrastructure.gov.au/chisholm/media-release/round-10-remote-airstrip-upgrade-program-ready-takeoffRound 10 of the Remote Airstrip Upgrade Program ready for takeoffThe Australian Government has today opened applications for Round 10 of the Remote Airstrip Upgrade (RAU) Program to enhance the safety and accessibility of airstrips in remote and very remote areas of Australia.

The tenth round of the program will provide up to $12 million in grant funding for sites in remote areas nationwide, with projects set to be delivered between 2024 and 2026.

Australia’s remote airstrip network provides vital access between remote communities and major regional centres, while also enabling the delivery of urgent supplies and the coordination of life-saving flights for those in need.

Many eligible airstrips also service remote First Nations communities, aiding their access to vital services and supplies.

Eligible airstrip owners or operators can apply for grants of between $5,000 and $3 million for works to improve remote airstrip safety and access.

The grant guidelines are now available online and applications for the program open 6 November 2023 and close on 15 December 2023.

Additional details about the program, including the guidelines for Round 10, can be found here (http://www.business.gov.au/raup).

Quotes attributable to Assistant Minister for Education & Regional Development, Senator the Hon Anthony Chisholm:

“Today’s opening of applications for Round 10 of the Remote Airstrip Upgrade Program demonstrates the Albanese Government’s commitment to improving infrastructure for all Australians, including those living in rural and remote areas.

“Our airstrip network provides a vital service to people living in rural and remote areas by connecting them with major regional centres, while also enabling access to important supplies and emergency care.

“The opening of the Remote Airstrip Upgrade’s tenth round is all about getting on with delivering our Budget commitments, and working hard for Australians living rurally.

“Improved airstrips in remote areas across Australia offer exciting opportunities for local residents by creating jobs, delivering economic stimulus and leaving lasting benefits.”

All not before time. That $12M means that some $6 million will be spent on paperwork.
To improve country airstrips is something that should have been done long ago. The people living up country, including first nation and later born citizens should have access to the same amenities as city people and at a same costing.
All governments, state and federal, have failed in that regard.
That also means that General Aviation at large, aircraft, pilots and airstrips, should be considered vital for the maintenance of looking after the real people who live and work in the outback. They are away from the perks of living in the big cities. They should be looked after and city people should be encouraged to move and live in the country away from the big cities.

Another total waste of taxpayers money, how much did the new runway lights at YPMP cost the taxpayer for medivac operations only?🤬

Burning dunny rolls soaked in kero and a few car headlights are more expensive🤬

No air transport operations allowed at night through.
