How do I retrieve saved text I was typing out for a post and lost - hours of work lost ......

If you did the typing online, I suspect that it is lost. Can I suggest that for a long post you compose in a word processor, with frequent saving, then copy and paste onto pprune. I know it doesnot help the current issue, but would save you in future.

PS: afterthought: the "Save" caption - no idea where it goes. Perhaps the mods can give a steer?

You should see a button at the bottom left of the text box which says "restore auto-saved content". Hopefully... saved my sanity once or twice...
