UPDATE: FlightRadar confirms this is a glitch related to persons unknown 'spoofing' data. They are investigating further.
....

Over the last 20 minutes or so there have been multiple 7700 squawks by Russian airliners around Moscow.

Currently on FlightRadar 24 there are at least 25 aircraft showing as squawking 7700.

Not sure if this is a FlightRadar glitch or something else.

There's a thread currently on R&N (though it will probably be moved here) about FR24 showing a Kenya Airways NBO-LHR flight yesterday whose plotted track included half a dozen points just NE of Moscow (!) when the aircraft would have been over the Central African Republic or Chad.

I suspect both that and today's phenomenon are examples of FR24 being under attack with spoofed feeder data.

Quote FR24:"We are aware of some erroneous signals in the Moscow area indicating multiple aircraft squawking 7700.

"This is caused by individuals spoofing aircraft position data.

"Our team is working on a resolution for this issue."

FR24 has indeed now tweeted, confirming my theory.
