Hi All,

A quick question regarding whether as a freelance pilot I am required to have my own liability insurance to work as a freelance rotary pilot?
I have been flying as such for over 23yrs and never had it raised as a question until now...so any help/guidance on this would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I think that you might struggle to find an underwriter who is willing to offer you a policy.

Public liability insurance for the ground side of what you do should be no problem (eg you accidentally topple that vase at your clients office whilst discussing your next job). I don't think it would be possible to get the same insurance for airside risk.

Professional indemnity (eg you give advice to client about aviation and then they complain later you were wrong) is a non-starter as soon as you mention aviation.
