Hong Kong Dragon Airlines (Dragonair) will apply for rights to fly to Manila, Bangkok, Seoul, Tokyo and Sydney by the end of the month.

Apparently they are seeking two daily flights to MNL, BKK & SEL with once daily to NRT & SYD.

Cathay Pacific are quoted: "We wouldn't object to Dragonair's application."

The new routes will result in new aircraft orders because Dragonair is unlikely to want to shift capacity from its exisiting routes.

The smart money believes these new destinations will come on line next year.

Hi all,
It's my understanding that Cathay owns DragonAir (and Air Hong Kong!), so why would they object, when they, in all probability, planned it!

Cheers

From what I hear from Mates in HK; Dragonair is a worrying situation for CX.

Great company, good expansion, new equipment and none of the problems of Cathay !!!

CX do not own KA but their shareholding gives them several seats on the board where it is suggested that the 5th column operates as a spoiling unit !

Think back !!! The CX pilots' association (AOA) refused to allow the KA pilots to amalgamate with them in the past ( Thank Gosh according to all KA pilots) and CX tried in the past to close KA down.......

If ya can't beat em, join em !!!;)

Ha ha ha !!! Goooooooooooo Dragonair !!!

:D :D :D

Dragonair have an advertising campaign in HK proclaiming that "It's still the year of the Dragon".

Indeed.
