Hi all, I was just wondering if there's any expat who've worked in Taiwanese airlines or current local pilots in Taiwan know if your flight hours counts towards any future employement outside of the country? (Since Taiwan is not ICAO), but it seems that reading some other threads, your operating experience on aircrafts within Taiwanese airlines still recognised by other airlines when applying?

A pilot who had worked for EVA AIR told me that the hours counted, however the type rating might be a problem if it’s done in Taiwan and you don’t already have it on another licence. Some authorities accept it, others don’t. You might need to do a fresh TR on a subsequent licence before the hours are accepted.

IIRC QATAR Airways will accept Taiwanese qualifications but this may have changed.

Thanks for your response Kris.
So basically before going elsewhere (leaving the Taiwanese carrier), get a type rating on the type you've been flying for the hours to count? or better to be type rated before going?

Best bet would be to have the type on your home licence before joining a Taiwanese airline then you shouldn’t have a problem with the hours.
