The Biden Administration has nominated Phil Washington to be administrator of the FAA - a couple of clips from his US Senate Confirmation hearings:

and there is lots more if you are really keen!

It is a pity the Australian Parliament does not hold confirmation hearings for our Ministers so that the Honourable Catherine King could demonstrate why she is so well qualified to be
The Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government
responsible for:
In the Government of Australia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_of_Australia), the minister for infrastructure has overall responsibility for all of the matters falling within the Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications portfolio,
including regulation, safety and funding in relation to aviation, shipping, roads and railways and policy on regional development, local government and the territories,
including the Australian Capital Territory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Capital_Territory) and the Northern Territory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Territory).

Her excellent bio demonstrates, Like Mr Washington's, the qualifications she has:

Catherine King is the first woman to be elected to represent the people of Ballarat and has held the seat since 2001.
She has a degree in social work from RMIT and a Masters in Public Policy from the Australian National University. Catherine worked in Ballarat after she completed her university studies in 1987.
A strong sense of public service led her to work in Canberra with the then Department of Health and Aged Care as an assistant director and later director.
Catherine also worked in the private sector as a consultant with KPMG before entering Parliament. Catherine's passion for making life better for young people and their families motivated her to become involved in politics.
"My strong belief is that everyone should have an equal chance in life, no matter where they come from or how much money their parents have."
Catherine is a passionate and tireless advocate for her community and lives in central Ballarat with her husband and their son.
She loves to spend any spare time with the family, is a supporter of Richmond in the AFL and, as a former competitor, takes an interest in rowing – a strong sport in Ballarat.

Some are saying Mr Washington was selected because he is black and Ms King because she is a woman.
I think people should be selected on capability supported by evidence hence the information above so you can judge each!!!!!!!!!!!

Ms King:
What are you doing about
+ Qantas and .... all the things in the newspapers for weeks?
+ QATAR Airlines
+ Airservices continued lack of safety services as documented here by the hard work of SunnySA
+ CASA and medical certificates etc as documented here by Clinton McKenzie

Oh and responsible for the territories too?
+ Like the ACT where drugs and motorcycle gangs are quite legal - unlike the rest of Australia

She might be preoccupied with this

It's a big portfolio for one minister.

Thanks Chronic.
Given the Guardian article was back in April - almost five months ago - if you are right then I guess normal safety standards of ATC may be restored around, when? 2035 ??
QATAR allowed to operate from say 2045?

Department of Health and Aged Care as an assistant director and later director.

Well qualified to deal with the average CASA employee and the subject of Pilot medicals! :hmm:
