David (Dave) P Robson passed away on & August. Aged 78.
After an RAAF career he bacame a flying instructor and later again became the editor of the CAA/CASA Aviation Safety Digest. Following that Dave became the Aviation Theory Centre (ATC) and produced many flying theory books along with specialist books on certain subjects.
Many a pilot will have the ATC logbook in preference to the Air Services logbook.
His publications have been read by many a current and past aviator.
Not to be forgotten
Thank you Dave for all your educational work.
RIP.

Credit where it is due. The text books were actually written by this man, we dinosaurs will remember how an aviation text book was called a "Trevor Thom" including in the UK where it was officially "the Air Pilot's Manual". I believe he sold the copyrights in 1999 to ATC. . Good on Dave Robson for keeping the publications going and modifying when necessary, but the bulk of the texts are unchanged. RIP to them both.

Dave was also quite a good amateur artist and did aviation themed watercolours.

Have flown with both fine chaps in the past and am greatly saddened to hear of Dave's passing.

While Trev established and ramrodded the organisation, it would be more reasonable to acknowledge that he had a number of associates who provided a variety of the text development.

Condolences to Mr Robson's family and friends.

I met Trevor a few years back, he was a character, just a great bloke. Shortly after I met him an article came out in the local rag about his career in Lufthansa, further reinforcing my respect for him. They created a great product, it took Trevor to simplify aviation theory to the point I could understand it, came from being a school teacher in his early career I think.

Indeed, easily qualifying as one of nature's gentlefolk.

Very sad news.

The training manuals got me through a large majority of my initial training and exams. I’ve still got most of the manuals and my favourite is the first one I got that was BAK.

The material in that manual would have been typed on a typewriter and all the diagrams have been drawn by hand (bought in about 85 or 86).

Easy reading that helped me understand the information. Only comparison on par with regards to good theory books in my opinion are the FAA flight training manuals.

I would have thought that Dave's passing might have resulted in a few more tales than we have seen, so far ?

For most I suspect, there's not much more to add than has been said already. There are hundreds (potentially thousands?) of rookies out there like me for whom his text books (BAK being but one) were the foundation of their ground school and for which we are truly grateful, but we never had the pleasure of meeting him in person. And that's just how it is for all who live and work outside of the spotlight.

He did well and will be sorely missed. RIP.
