Link to the record-only investigations here. (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/aaib-record-only-investigations-may-june-2023/aaib-record-only-investigations-reviewed-may-june-2023) I don’t know why they’re a week late this month but hey maybe they’ve been on holiday.

R-22 hover taxiing to the pad at a private site when low rpm horn goes off and it starts to spin (direction not stated). Lands heavily. Suspected cause (record only remember) ‘loss of engine power’.

R-44 spins on its axis twice while starting up. Pilot cannot recall pedal position at the time.

And in other news, with 150 hours now logged on 44s, I had my second try at the helilanes earlier today. The thermals were so bad that I bailed at the bottom of the Lea Valley without ever getting as far as H4. Holding a steady 80kt, the MAP varied between 14 and 23 trying to keep the height constant. Anyone else find it particularly rough?
